Ayo Alakara Reveals How Remi Tinubu's Support Helped Expand His Business.
A Nigerian akara vendor, Ayobami Ogunmoroti, popularly known as Ayo Alakara, has shared how financial assistance from First Lady Oluremi Tinubu transformed his business and enabled him to expand his operations.
Ogunmoroti, a graduate of Political Science Education from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), disclosed that the support allowed him to move from selling akara under a tree to operating from a well-equipped food kiosk.
Speaking in a video posted on his TikTok page on Tuesday, the entrepreneur expressed gratitude to the First Lady, describing the financial support as timely and life-changing.
According to him, the assistance came at a crucial stage of his business when he was looking for opportunities to grow.
He explained that before receiving the support, he operated from a roadside location under a tree, but the funds enabled him to establish a more suitable food kiosk where he now serves customers.
Ogunmoroti thanked the First Lady for the gesture, praying for God's continued blessings upon her, President Bola Tinubu and the current administration.
The First Lady had earlier disclosed that her office quietly supported the young entrepreneur after learning about his business.
She noted that the intervention helped him expand his operations and create employment opportunities for 12 workers.
Ayo Alakara's entrepreneurial journey began during his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme after the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted his previous source of income.
In a 2024 interview with The PUNCH, he explained that he ventured into the akara business as a means of survival before relocating to Abuja, where he rebranded the business as "Akara Ayo."
Since then, he has expanded the brand by introducing professionally branded packaging and delivery services, helping to attract more customers and strengthen his presence in the food business.
His story has continued to inspire many young Nigerians, demonstrating how resilience, innovation and timely support can help small businesses grow into sustainable enterprises.
