Nollywood Actor IK Ogbonna Reacts to EFCC Investigation Claims

Nollywood actor IK Ogbonna has denied reports claiming that he was invited for questioning and investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) over an alleged $75,000 romance scam.

The reports surfaced after a 49-year-old American woman, identified as Kimberly Ann, allegedly claimed she had been involved in an online relationship with someone she believed to be the actor since 2025.

Reacting to the allegations, IK Ogbonna took to his Instagram Stories to dismiss the claims, describing the reports as false, malicious and entirely unfounded.

The actor stressed that he has never participated in or supported internet fraud, romance scams or any other form of criminal activity.

He also explained that the incident is not the first time unknown individuals have used his name, photographs and identity to create fake social media accounts for fraudulent purposes.

According to Ogbonna, he has never authorised anyone to represent him online, request money on his behalf or communicate privately with members of the public while pretending to be him.

He urged fans and the general public to remain vigilant and exercise caution when interacting with accounts claiming to belong to him, warning that impersonators and catfish profiles continue to exploit his identity to deceive unsuspecting victims.

The Nollywood star reiterated that any social media account involved in soliciting funds or engaging in suspicious conversations in his name is not authorised by him, advising people to verify information carefully before responding to online requests.
