Sunday Igboho Says Injured Iru Ekun Operatives Have Recovered
Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has announced that members of his private security outfit, Iru Ekun, who were injured during a recent operation in the Old Oyo National Park, have recovered.
In a video shared on Sunday, Igboho dismissed reports questioning his wellbeing and reassured supporters that he was safe and in good health.
He also confirmed that the operatives wounded during the mission had recovered from their injuries and pledged that the group's efforts to combat criminal activities across the South-West would continue.
Addressing his supporters, Igboho expressed appreciation for the concern shown over the incident and maintained that neither he nor his team would be discouraged by the attack.
According to him, the mission to restore peace and confront criminal elements operating within the region remains a priority.
The update follows an armed confrontation involving members of the Iru Ekun security outfit during an operation inside the Old Oyo National Park in Oyo State.
Reports indicated that the team had entered the forest reserve to track suspected kidnappers and other armed criminals believed to be using the area as a hideout.
Before moving into the location, the operatives were said to have deployed surveillance drones to identify suspected camps and monitor the movement of armed groups within the forest.
However, the operation reportedly escalated into a gun battle after heavily armed men, suspected to be members of cross-border criminal networks, opened fire on the security team.
Several members of the outfit sustained injuries during the exchange.
Despite the attack, Igboho reiterated that he and members of Iru Ekun remain determined to continue operations aimed at tackling insecurity and protecting communities across the South-West.
He said the outfit would not relent until criminal groups responsible for disturbing the peace in the region were brought under control or driven out.
