Sadio Mané has officially announced his retirement from international football, bringing an end to a distinguished 14-year career with the Senegal national team.

The 34-year-old made the announcement in a statement published by the Senegalese newspaper Le Quotidien, just days after Senegal's dramatic 3-2 defeat to Belgium in the Round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Mane leaves the international stage after making 130 appearances for the Lions of Teranga, cementing his place as one of the greatest players in the history of Senegalese football.

During his time with the national team, the former Liverpool forward played a pivotal role in transforming Senegal into one of Africa's leading football nations.

He was instrumental in helping the country secure its first-ever Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title in 2021, a historic achievement that remains one of the defining moments of his career.

Before establishing himself as a global football star in the English Premier League, Mane began his professional journey with FC Metz, where his impressive performances paved the way for a successful career in European football.
